7 Day Rwanda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you'll be greeted by your safari guide from Primate Safari Experiences and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. In the evening, enjoy a city tour and visit the genocide memorials. Relax for the night at Serena Hotel Kigali or Marriott Hotel.

Day 2: Journey to Akagera National Park

Start your day with breakfast before transferring to Akagera National Park. The drive takes 2-3 hours, offering scenic views of Rwanda’s green landscape, rolling hills, and birds. Stop in Kayonza for lunch, then continue to the park for an afternoon game drive. Afterward, check in at Akagera Game Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park for a game drive, where you might see giraffes, kobs, warthogs, lions, elephants, and more. After lunch, take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema to spot hippos and crocodiles. Return to Akagera Game Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, embark on an en-route game drive while leaving Akagera, then drive to Volcanoes National Park, renowned for mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and other primates. The drive takes about 4 hours, with a lunch stop in Kigali. Continue for 2 more hours to Volcanoes National Park and stay at Five Volcanoes Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

Following breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. Hike through the forest to find and observe the golden monkeys. After lunch, cross the border to Uganda and check in at Lake Mutanda Safari Lodge. Relax in the evening.

Day 6: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi National Park

Begin your day with breakfast and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a gorilla habituation experience. After a briefing, enter the forest to spend up to 4 hours with the mountain gorillas. Return to Gahinga Lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Mgahinga National Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Track the gorillas in their natural habitat for 2-5 hours. After your trek, return to the lodge for lunch, then drive back to Kigali for your evening flight home.
