5 DAYS - QUEEN ELIZABETH & KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
Day 1: Kampala – Queen Elizabeth:
After early breakfast, set off on southbound road from Kampala and have a stop-over at the famous Equator for photographs before proceeding to Queen Elisabeth National Park. A drive to your lodge will reveal elephants, cape buffaloes, warthogs, bushbucks and other species. After lunch, go for an optional evening game to the Crater lakes region and Lake Katwe traditional salt works. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (High-end / Luxurious) or Kingfisher Tented Camp (Medium-budget) or Ecology Guest House (Low-budget / basic) – B, L, D.
Day 2: Queen Elizabeth:
Arise early for an exciting morning game drive – an excellent opportunity to spot lions, leopards, elephants, giant forest hogs, Cape buffalo, waterbucks and Uganda kobs. Return for late breakfast with an option of relaxing by the swimming poolside, thereafter. After lunch, go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This two-hour ride on double-decked boat will reveal high concentrations of hippos, colourful bird and lots of mammals drinking from shores. It is the one of the best spots for photography and birdwatching. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (High-end / Luxurious) or Kingfisher Tented Camp (Medium-budget) or Ecology Guest House (Low-budget / basic) – B, L, D.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth – Kibaale National Park:
After breakfast, transfer to Kibaale Forest National Park. This mature hardwood forest harbours 11 species of primates and a variety of birds and butterflies. Lunch upon arrival and afternoon is free for short hikes to explore the surroundings. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge (High-end / Luxurious) or Mountains of the Moon Hotel (Medium-budget accommodation) – B, L, D. Day 4: Kibaale National Park: Early morning visit to Kibaale Forest for chimpanzee trekking. The forest has the highest concentration of primates in Africa including red-tailed and grey-cheeked mangabeys, red colobuses, baboons and acrobatic vervet monkeys. Picnic lunch at Bigodi Swamp. After lunch, walk through the swamps to see birds and primates at close range – an amazing flora and fauna experience. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge (High-end/Luxurious) or Mountains of the Moon Hotel (Medium-budget accommodation) – B, L, D.
Day 5: Kibale – Kampala:
After breakfast, explore the best of Toro Kingdom – the palace of the famous teenage King, Omukama of Toro, and other scenic sites. Later, return to Kampala, passing through lush green tea plantations.
